I have always been fascinated by forged steel. When steel
is heated, it becomes as maleable as clay, allowing you to form it at will into
virtually any shape you desire. When it is cooled, however, it instantly becomes
hard and tough- Virtually indestructable. My training as a Blacksmith started
out pretty traditional- I learned to make the 'normal' hooks, nails, and
fireplace tools. I quickly became more interested in the artistic side of
things, and developed my style and technique
accordingly.
There were a few years that I was pretty
much inactive when it came to blacksmithing. My college years left little time
for artistic pursuits of any kind. After that, I lived in a condo in Florida for
a few years, and really had no place to set a shop up. Now that I have relocated
to Tennesssee, However, I finally have access to a shop to work in-
and I am
also slowly equipping my home shop as well. Here is a selection of my
recent work-
Siamese Fighting Fish Latch. Steel & Aluminum.
