My
equipment-
I admit it- I love my 'toys', and I think
that is one thing that attracts me to photography. It is one of those pastimes
that you can be as involved as you want to in equipment wise- If you are looking
for a fast way to part with your hard earned money, this is it! I have chosen my
tools carefully, to get the most bang for my buck.
First, I bought a Canon Rebel XT a few years back, and
used the cheap 'kit' lens and a VERY inexpensive 70-300 telephoto zoom. I used
this for quite some time, and took a lot of great photos with it. Later down the
line, as I got more serious about photography, I gradually began upgrading
equipment. My major investment has been lenses- They are not cheap, but there is
no substitute for quality optics! I have a pretty good lineup
now-
17-40mm f/4 L - My choice in a wide angle lens. I use this for my
Landscape work.
28-70mm f/3.5-4.5 - An older lens, no longer made. It's
relatively light, and was inexpensive, so it is a great 'knockaround' lens.
Photos are sharp, too! I use this for street photography, when I want something
a bit smaller and less 'in your face'. Also, since it was inexpensive, I don't
need to worry as much about it.
50mm f/1.8 - Currently my
only Prime lens, It's FAST, its CHEAP, and it's SHARP. I use this one for
night & low light situations.
100-400 f/4-5.6 IS L - I use
this mostly for wildlife. It's my FAVORITE lens, too- Sharp is an
understatement. The Image Stabilizer is a life saver, especially when shooting
handheld and/or in low light. It's BIG, It's HEAVY- But I love
it.
