Trailer Restoration
The boat came complete with a 1960 Gator trailer- Most probably the original to the boat. It DID need a little bit of work, though. I am restoring it along with the boat.
Here is how it looked to begin with-
Not too bad- But it's been repainted a few times, and has a bit of rust here and there. So, I decided to strip it all the
way down to a bare frame and repaint it, then assemble it. When I'm done, hopefully it'll be as good as new!
Here is the trailer, stripped down to a bare frame, and with some of the paint removed. A wire wheel on the grinder makes pretty fast
of removing the paint- and brings it all back to bare metal with minimal effort.
After removing any loose paint and rust, I primed it all with rust inhibiting primer.
Then, I sprayed on a good coat of 'Gator Yellow' paint, and put it all back together. There are still a few little details to finish, like
wiring, carpet on the bunks, etc, but I think it's looking pretty good!
You've got to love those chrome hubcaps!
The Gator sticker that's on there is a VERY close approximation to the one that I found when I was grinding the old black paint off. Since the original
had been painted over, there was no way to salvage it. There were people selling reproductions online, but they were cut vinyl, and not quite the right size, AND had a slightly
different look to them, so I had these made up. If you need them, you can order them here-

I made them on Zazzle- they're printed on a bumper sticker. Just cut 'em out, and stick 'em on... They are $9.00 a pair.
