Bio / CV

I am a part time artist, currently living in Hixson, Tennessee, in the mountains just north of Chattanooga.

I live in a house in the mountains, with my wife Joanne, Three large parrots (a Severe Macaw, an Eclectus, and an African Grey), Three smaller birds, two dogs, two saltwater awuariums, and three freshwater aquariums. In addition to the 'captive' animals, The property I live on has large amounts of wildlife roaming it freely, and visiting our feeders for a meal.

Hey- Do I know you?? There is a good chance of that, if you are one of the 125,000+ artists that hang out on WetCanvas ... I function as a Moderator there in several forums. I go by the cool 'handle' Printmakerguy over there. If you are a member, say HI next time you're there!

For the most part, I have no formal training, except for the occasional workshop and class here and there. I learned most of what I know by reading, trying it out, and making lots of mistakes. While I have been interested in art for pretty much all my life, it has only been in the last few years that I have become 'serious' about it, and began entering shows and exhibitions. I have shown my work in juried exhibitions across the United States, in Great Britain, and Tasmania.

My favorite medium to work in is Relief printmaking- Linocuts and woodcuts- but I at least 'dabble' in virtually everything you can think of. I do a lot of drawing- Mainly graphite realism, and specialize in Miniature work in graphite. I also enjoy combining various drawing materials to get interesting effects.

I am very experimental when it comes to my art as well. I like to try new mediums, revisit old 'dead' mediums, and make up new ways of using materials to suit my needs. I enjoy doing work that explores concepts- Not only the visual concepts within the artwork itself, but also the scientific and practical concepts behind the materials that I am using, and why they work like they do. My studio often bears more resemblance to a science lab than a studio as a result!
